Microsoft always delivers security patches and bug fixes via Windows Update. Good way to keep Windows updated but not for everyone especially Windows 8 or 8.1 users. They may be missing the updates if they don’t have Windows 8.1 Update installed. Microsoft already warned 8.x users saying they will not receive any updates if they don’t have 8.1 Update 1 installed. But how to tell if Windows 8 or 8.1 operating system have Windows 8.1 Update 1 installed?

Windows 8 users must have already updated to the free Windows 8.1 upgrade delivered via Windows Store. Windows 8.1 comes with a lots of patches for issues found in Windows 8. Windows 8.1 Update 1 (from now on referred to as 8.1 Update) further fixes a lot of issues and brings back some classic features. 8.1 Update is not delivered via Windows Store and is not an optional update. It’s an important update and is necessary for Windows 8.x users for receiving future bug fixes or security updates. If Windows Update is set to receive Automatic Updates, then you already have 8.1 Update. But how to confirm if you have 8.1 Update installed? System Properties is not saying anything about 8.1 Update nor is the Windows version number. Don’t worry as its easy to tell if you have installed the update or not.
