Facebook Messenger For Android, iOS App Gets Voice Messaging Ability, VoIP Pilot Testing In Canada

Facebook has updated its Messenger for Android app and Messenger for iOS app. The worth mentioning feature added in the app on both platforms is the voice messaging capability. With the new feature update to the Messenger app, Facebook is finally getting into VoIP market, which is rumored to let Facebook Messenger users call other Messenger friends for free.

If you are not familiar with the Facebook Messenger app, here’s a brief explanation for you. Facebook Messenger app for Android and iOS lets you easily chat with your friends, send private messages, send SMS message to friends or anyone in your mobile contacts, and more.


Please note that the new VoIP feature is not available for all users and all regions around the world. Facebook Messenger for iOS app has only mentioned about this feature in the app description. TechCrunch reports that Facebook’s VoIP pilot program is only available in Canada for now. The app description for the Android platform basically says that you can now send quick voice messages.

Facebook is really getting serious with its Messenger app for both iOS and Android. With every update, it’s adding new and exciting features to it. In the last update, the social network giant added a feature which lets anyone to use its Messenger app without even requiring a Facebook account. It basically opens doors for everyone, particularly, non-Facebook users to use the app by signing up with only their name and a phone number. Facebook has also released Messenger app for Firefox which lets you use the Messenger service without the need to open a new tab and load Facebook. Facebook has also released Facebook Poke app, but its exclusive for the iOS platform only.
