WordPress 3.2 Releasing This Week, Are You Ready for the future?

WordPress 3.2 is almost ready for the limelight. It’s expected to be released within this week.

According to the latest blog post at WordPress.org, WordPress 3.2 is going to be released very soon, within this week. Are you ready for the major version yet?

WordPress 3.2 is a major release coming with many new features and a complete new Admin layout. Other notable changes coming in WordPress 3.2 are Distraction Free Writing and the brand new Twenty Eleven Theme.

The new Admin layout makes everything much more simpler and cleaner, designed keeping maximum usability in mind.

The new distraction free writing panel lets you make focus just on the content than other tidbits on the screen. The goal is to make the writing experience more lightweight and calming for all users.

This new Twenty Elven theme also comes with a Theme Options page that lets you pick color schemes and layout. There is also new templates added for pages. By default the page templates are with No-Sidebar. There is a Sidebar version, and a very interesting Showcase option that has a slider built-in. The Twenty Eleven Theme’s Header Images now lets you show Random Images on each page.

Minimum PHP and MySQL Requirements

As of 3.2, you’ll need to be running PHP 5.2.4 and MySQL 5.0. You can find out if you’re ready for 3.2 with the Health Check plugin. In your dashboard, go to Plugins â†’ Add New and search for “health check” (it should be the first result). Install it, activate it, and it will tell you if you need to update anything.

IE6 and Outdated Browsers

With 3.2, we’re also dropping support for Internet Explorer 6, a 10-years-old outdated browser that even Microsoft is ready to leave behind. From now on, if you access your WordPress dashboard from an outdated browser, we’ll let you know.

If your browser is out of date, you’ll see a friendly orangey-yellow box in your dashboard letting you know you a newer version is available (which you can dismiss, of course). If you’re using IE6, though, the box will be red, and your dashboard will not function properly.

Are you ready yet for WordPress 3.2, for the future? We are eagerly waiting for the new release and all the new features it is bringing in.
