OpenOffice 3.2.0 Final Released

OpenOffice 3.2.0 Final has been released. The official download page still shows download link for OpenOffice 3.1.1 as the latest version is now distributed to mirror ftp servers worldwide to make sure a smooth delivery. Once the distribution is completed, release notifications will be added to the project’s homepage. Update: Download links to OpenOffice 3.2.0 is now available. OpenOffice.org developers released five RC and a number of betas before deciding to release the final version of the Office suite.

There are lots of changes and improvements over Open Office 3.1.1. Among the improvements, the most noticeable changes are faster startup time for OpenOffice.org Writer, Draw and Calc, improved ODF format support, support for proprietary formats like password protected Microsoft Office XML files (supported document types: MS Word 2007 documents (*.docx, *.docm); MS Word 2007 templates (*.dotx, *.dotm); MS Excel 2007 documents (*.xlsx, *.xlsm); MS Excel 2007 binary documents (*.xlsb); MS Excel 2007 templates (*.xltx, *.xltm); MS Powerpoint 2007 documents (*.pptx, *.pptm); MS Powerpoint 2007 templates (*.potx, *.potm))., improved statistics function, changes in the way comments are added to Draw or Impress and new diagrams in Chart, support for Postscript based OpenType fonts.

As told earlier, the download has not been officially listed on the OpenOffice.org homepage. Interested users who want to download the latest version of the Office Suite can do so from one of the distribution mirror ftp sites. It is likely that the announcement will be made in the next 24 hours which suggests that waiting for the official release is another valid option.
