How To Create Windows 7 System Recovery Disk

windows7logoIt is always a good idea to be ready for the worst. Having a system repair disk in Windows 7 is good, if you are unable to start Windows correctly. The repair disk loads the Windows Recovery Environment. Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) is a set of tools included in the Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems to help diagnose and recover from serious errors which may be preventing Windows from booting successfully.

Note: If you have Windows 7 installation DVD, you can boot to the Windows Recovery Environment using the same disk. This guide will come handy for those who own a OEM computer (with no Operating System DVD media in hand). Even if you have the installation disk, and you want to keep a disk exclusively for recovery purpose, then also this guide will be helpful.

Creating a System Repair Disk in Windows 7

  1. First Click on the Start button. Now, click on All Programs, then on Maintenance, and finally click on Create a System Repair Disc.

  3. Windows will now create your System Repair Disc.
  4. To boot into the Windows Recovery Environment, place the System Repair Disc into the drive and reboot the PC.

Note: Don’t forget to set CD/DVD as the first boot device in your BIOS settings.
