Microsoft Office 2016 for Windows Released For Everyone

Microsoft has released the latest version of its popular productivity suite, Office 2016 for Windows for everyone. Microsoft Office 2016 promises better security with a focus on collaboration and a few more new features mainly targeted towards its enterprise customers. Office 2016 productivity suite is visually more pleasant and is designed for Windows 10.

Office 2016 “collaboration” feature is worth mentioning here. If you have ever used Office web apps you must have seen how the collaboration happens real-time. Microsoft with the release of Office 2016 has brought in the same real-time co-authoring feature directly into the native Office apps. The next time, say, you are co-authoring a Word document, you can actually see what your co-authors are writing or editing instantly in real-time.

Enterprise and business customers will be happy to see Skype for Business now deeply integrated in Office apps. Business users can now start a real-time co-authoring session from within a Skype conversation.

With the new Office 365 Groups feature introduced with Outlook 2016, you can create public or private teams. You can keep better connected with a shared inbox, calendar, notebook and cloud storage locker with the groups.

The aesthetics of the Office 2016 productivity suite have been tweaked across the apps along with the user interface. A new tool called “Tell Me” is introduced to assist you perform various tasks. Improved business intelligence tools have been introduced in Excel apps. Outlook now have new features to help you manage your inbox in a better way and increase your productivity. Outlook now also features a “lightning” fast search.

Enterprise customers will like the built-in Data Loss Prevention (DLP) feature in Office 2016. DLP allows administrators to set up document sharing and authoring policies to reduce any risk of leaking confidential data. Multifactor Authentication is another new security feature introduced to offer more secure access to remote files. Later this year, Enterprise Data Protection (EDP) will be available for Windows 10 users for a more secure environment for content sharing across corporate managed apps and in the cloud.

Along with Office 2016 for Windows, the Redmond software giant also released Office 2016 for Mac standalone edition. Earlier, Office 2016 for Mac, which was released earlier this year was only available to Office 365 subscribers.
