Windows 10 Release Date: Windows 10 Launching This Summer on July 29
Microsoft has officially confirmed that Windows 10 will release for PCs and tablets worldwide on July 29, 2015. Windows 10 will be available in 190 Countries and 111 Languages.
At the Windows Hardware Engineering Community (WinHEC) summit in Shenzhen, China, Microsoft Windows’s chief Terry Myerson announced the launch of the new operating system. According to him, Windows 10, the PC version and Windows 10 for Phones, the mobile version of its operating system, will be launched in the same time frame. Microsoft still yet to announce the exact release date of Windows 10.
In the announcement, Myerson said, “we continue to make great development progress and shared today that Windows 10 will be available this summer in 190 countries and 111 languages”. Windows 10 when released will be available as a free upgrade for all existing Windows 7 and Windows 8 users valid for a year. Microsoft for the first time will even allow free Windows 10 upgrade to customers running a non-genuine copies (for Chinese users only) of Windows. That’s a huge step taken by the software company to tackle software piracy in China.
Windows 10 will support a range of devices. Starting from desktop PCs to Windows Phones and the fast-growing IoT (Internet of Things) devices.
“Windows 10 will offer versions of Windows for a diverse set of IoT devices, ranging from powerful devices like ATMs and ultrasound machines, to resource constrained devices like gateways. Through key partnerships with the Raspberry Pi Foundation, Intel, Qualcomm and others, we will provide great options for commercial devices builders, hobbyists and students. We also introduced the Qualcomm DragonBoard 410C to the Windows 10 device family. The Qualcomm DragonBoard 410C is the first Windows 10 developer board with integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS, and a smartphone-class Snapdragon 410 chipset,” says Myerson.
“I can’t wait to see how amazing companies around the world will continue to innovate with devices running Windows 10. Working together I know we can create some incredible experiences with Windows 10 that will truly delight our customers,” concluded Myerson.
