Windows 8 RTM Build 9200? Default Wallpaper, Lock Screen Image Leaked

Windows 8, the next-upgrade of Microsoft’s Windows operating system, is expected to become available on October 26th, 2012. Windows 8 RTM is set to be available during the first week of August.

As the RTM date is nearing, the internet is abuzz with rumors about Windows 8 RTM build number, a new default wallpaper and a new lock screen image. You can download the leaked lock screen wallpaper and the default desktop wallpaper of Windows 8 RTM. See for the download link at the end of this post.

Rumor is Microsoft at first wanted to keep Windows 8 RTM build as 8888. Microsoft even compiled Windows 8 RTM build 8888 (8888.16384.WIN8_RTM.120724-1555). You can simply imagine why Microsoft wanted all 8’s in the build number of Windows 8 RTM!

But, due to the complex nature of its internal build process and due to an internal quirk, Microsoft was later forced to select 9200 (9200.16384.WIN8_RTM.120725-1247) as the RTM build. All checks related to localization and verification will now take place.

Later, the same website leaked a copy of, what is rumored to be, the lock screen image and the default wallpaper of the final version of Windows 8. You can download Windows 8 RTM wallpaper and lock screen from here.

Microsoft is expected to officially declare Windows 8 RTM next week. We’ll keep you up with the updates once Microsoft officially announces build 9200 as Windows 8 RTM. Until then you can download and enjoy the leaked goodies rumored to be off Windows 8 RTM.
