Microsoft Patch Tuesday: Security Bulletin Advance Notification for June 2010

Microsoft Security Response Center has released a notification that Microsoft will issue 10 Security Bulletins addressing 34 vulnerabilities on Tuesday, June 8, 2010. Microsoft Technet will host a webcast to address customer questions about the security bulletins the following day.

The list of affected operating systems includes Windows 2000, Windows XP (32-bit and 64-bit), Windows Server 2003 (32-bit and 64-bit), Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit), Windows Server 2008 (32-bit and 64-bit), Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit), and Windows Server 2008 R2. In terms of the Microsoft Office suites, all supported versions are affected on both Windows and Mac OS X. Three of the vulnerabilities are rated "Critical" and seven are rated "Important." At least two of the 10 patches will need a restart. February's Internet Explorer flaw and April's SharePoint vulnerability will both be patched this month.

My Technology Guide Moved to a New Server [Update]

My Technology Guide had a rough day today with around 3 hour, 15 min of downtime in total. The main cause of this was the server on which it was hosted. So we took the issue with Dreamhost Support (our host) to see into the matter. They promptly replied with an apology for the situation explaining about why this was happening. In order to save us from further downtime, they moved us to a new server entirely.

WordPress version 2.9 “Carmen” Released

I took a small break of half an hour from my studies to quick post this big news! :)

The WordPress development team have released WordPress version 2.9 “Carmen”named in honor of magical jazz vocalist Carmen McRae which can be downloaded from the official WordPress website. WordPress users who have configured automatic updates can also upgrade to WordPress 2.9 from within their blogs. As always, it is recommended to backup the files and database before initiating the update.

The new version comes with over 500 bug fixes, changes and enhancements which makes it a recommended download and install.

Semester Exams until 26th December, 2009

Hi My Technology Guide readers, My semester exams are starting from 15th December and will end on 26th December. I have a lot of revisions to do too. Due to this, I will not be able to give quality time in writing new articles here for you until 26th December, 2009. Even though I wrote a few articles in advanced and scheduled them to post, unfortunately in a hurry I accidentally deleted the images folder making a lot of images gone missing in them. Mozilla Firefox 3.5.4

1253214764_FirefoxMozilla has released an update to Firefox, which is now version 3.5.4. Mozilla Firefox should automatically notify you about the update. You can also manually check it by clicking on Help > Check for Updates option to update your web browser. The latest version is also available at the official Mozilla Firefox homepage.
