Download Microsoft Office 2007 and SharePoint 2007 Service Pack 3 (SP3)

Microsoft on Tuesday delivered the third and last service pack for Microsoft Office 2007 suite and SharePoint 2007.

The service pack includes all public updates, security updates, hot fixes and other updates that were released for Office 2007 through September 2011. According to Microsoft, SP3 also includes “general product fixes and improvements in stability, performance and security.”

Microsoft will retire Office 2007 suite from mainstream support on April 10, 2012. Microsoft will than supply security updates only during a five-year extended support phrase until April 11, 2017. Microsoft will halt all security updates to SP2 after a year from now. [Read more...]

July’s Patch Tuesday: Four Bulletins Will Fix 22 Vulnerabilities

Microsoft is issuing 4 bulletins for Patch Tuesday this month which will fix 22 vulnerabilities.

Compared to June’s Patch Tuesday 16 security bulletins, this month Microsoft has issued almost one-fourth of the numbers. But this four bulletins will patch a huge number of vulnerabilities, 22 to be exact. Out of the four updates, one is rated “critical,” while the other three is marked “important.”

Three bulletins will update and fix Windows, while the fourth one will fix a number of vulnerabilities in Visio 2003. The critical Windows bulletin and the important Office update both fix remote code execution issues; the other two important Windows fixes resolve elevation of privilege flaws. Microsoft Office 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Available, Download Now

Microsoft, on Tuesday, released Office 2010 Service Pack 1.

As expected, Microsoft released the first Service Pack (SP1) for Office 2010 productivity suite at the end of June. Office 2010 SP1 includes all previously released updates, in addition to several new updates. Which improves overall security, performance, and stability of the suite.

SP1 will be available through Windows Update, as a manual download from the Download Center and from Microsoft Update. Microsoft plans to push the update to Automatic Updates within 90 days. The software giant has released SP1 for all 40 language versions of Office 2010. Products that will get fixes and updates include Office 2010, Project 2010, Visio 2010, Office 2010 servers, Office Web Apps, Search Server 2010, SharePoint 2010 Products and FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint. Patch Tuesday June 2011: Critical Security Issues in Windows, IE, Office

Microsoft has issued an advanced security bulletin notification for June 2011 Patch Tuesday.

Unlike last month’s only two bulletins, this month Microsoft has issued 16 bulletins, covering a range of security holes in the Windows operating system, .NET FrameworkSilverlight, Forefront Threat Management Gateway, Internet ExplorerMicrosoft Office, SQL Server and Visual Studio.

Nine of the 16 security bulletins are rated “critical” by Microsoft and almost all of them requires a system restart. The rest seven bulletins are rated ”Important.” The 9 critical bulletins are for a remote code execution vulnerability. And out of the 9, two of the critical bulletins will address severe vulnerabilities in the Internet Explorer web browser. Microsoft Office 2010 Service Pack 1: Updates To Be Included in the SP1

Microsoft has announced on Monday that they are going to release Office 2010 Service Pack 1 by the end of June. SP1 releases for both Office client suites and SharePoint server products will be made available is now available now.

The software giant plans to discuss about Office 2010 SP1 at length during TechEd North America this week. Microsoft will detail its schedule plans and more details around the SP1 release, including the plans for language version updates, though it is mentioned in the blog post that, “All language versions of SP1 will release simultaneously.”

Firefox 4 RC2 Released [Download]

Mozilla has released the Release Candidate 2 (RC2) of Firefox 4 web browser. Mozilla has a release date listed for Firefox 4 as March 22nd. The RC 2 build is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

February 2011 Patch Tuesday: Advance Security Notification [Microsoft]

Microsoft for February’s Patch Tuesday has released an advanced notification about the upcoming security patches. Microsoft will be issuing 12 updates fixing 22 vulnerabilities, out of which three are 0-day vulnerabilities. These patches will update Windows operating system, Internet Explorer, and the Visio software.

Three bulletins, including the Internet Explorer patch, earn the most severe “Critical” rating. The remaining nine, including the Visio fix, earn a still significant “Important” score. All the patches excluding three of the fixes will need a reboot. [Read more...]
