Piriform, the developers of the popular Windows system cleanup software, CCleaner, has released a Mac version of it. CCleaner for Mac is a very good companion for OS X users and is nearly as full-featured as its Windows counterpart.

Every year in April, the Earth Day is celebrated worldwide to increase awareness of our planet’s natural environment. Microsoft has also joined the celebration by releasing some fresh and beautiful Windows themes.

The official Windows Experience Blog has posted the themes along with a brief introduction about the Arbor Day (or Earth Day, as we all know today). Jennifer Shepherd on Windows Experience Blog posted that “the first Arbor Day was held in Nebraska 140 years ago; by some accounts nearly a million trees were planted that day.”

Google Drive To Be Launched Next Week With 5 GB Free Storage?

Google Drive, Google’s personal cloud storage service, may launch next week at drive.google.com, according The Next Web (TNW).

TNW claims Google will be giving users 5 GB of storage and will be offered initially free. TNW to support their claims cited a draft release from one of Google’s launch partners for the personal cloud storage service. With all these reports and leaks, its safe to assume that the launch is imminent and an official announcement may soon be heard from Google.

Windows 8 Editions: Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, Windows RT Compared

Microsoft has officially announced Windows 8 editions that will be available when the upcoming operating system is released to the market. The Redmond software giant also announced that Windows 8 is the official name of the new operating system. To keep things simpler and reduce confusion, the software giant will release three editions of Windows 8, namely, Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro and Windows RT.

PCs and Tablets powered by x86 processors (both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms) will have Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro. Windows on ARM platform or WOA will be officially called Windows RT. Windows 8 Enterprise edition targeted towards enterprise customers will have all features of Windows 8 Pro plus features required for an IT organization like PC management and deployment, advanced security, virtualization, new mobility scenarios, and more. Flashback Trojan Removal Tool Officially Released By Apple

Apple has officially released Flashback Trojan Removal Tool that targets OS X Lion 10.7 users.

The Cupertino software giant has recommended all Mac users, who do not have Java installed on their OS X Lion, to run the standalone removal tool. Functionality of the tool is identical to that which is performed by the most recent Java update.

technical note about the utility on Apple’s Support site states that “If the Flashback malware is found, a dialog will be presented notifying the user that malware was removed.” Further, it states that “In some cases, the Flashback malware removal tool may need to restart your computer in order to completely remove the Flashback malware.” [Read more...]

Microsoft roadmap for upcoming Office 15, Internet Explorer 10 (IE10) and Windows Phone, meant for its partners, have leaked to the Internet.

This year, we all are expecting upgrades to almost all products from the Redmond software giant. From the flagship operating system Windows, Internet Explorer to the most popular Office 15 productivity suite, the software giant is expected to release upgrades to all of them. Windows Vista Mainstream Support Ends, Two Years Left Of Windows XP, Office 2003 Support

Microsoft on April 10, 2012 ends Mainstream support for Windows Vista as well as Office 2007. Extended support for both Windows XP and Office 2003 ends in two years on April 8, 2014.

According to Microsoft Support Lifecycle policy, Microsoft will offer a minimum of 10 year support for Business, Developer and Desktop Operating System products. The Redmond software giant further divides this 10 years of support in two stages: “Mainstream Support” and “Extended Support.” [Read more...]
