1. Open an administrative level command prompt. (To do this, click on the Start Menu, type cmd in the Start Menu search box, right-click on the Command Prompt entry and select Run as administrator.)
2. After opening the elevated command prompt, navigate to the Office14 folder:
   • 32-bit Office on 64-bit OS, use the command: “cd \Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14“
   • 32-bit Office on 32-bit OS and 64-bit Office on 64-bit OS, use the command: “cd \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14“
3. Now, execute the following command: “cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus“
4. After the successful execution of the command, look at “LICENSE NAME” for license type and “LICENSE STATUS” for activation status.

If Office 2010 is KMS activated you will see “KMS_Client edition” in the license name field, as shown in the screenshot below:

If Office 2010 is MAK activated you will see “MAK edition” in the license name field, as shown in the screenshot below:

If Office 2010 is activated using Retail license, you will see “Retail edition” in the license name field:

In a twitter reply by Microsoft Australia (MSAU), offered an interesting insight that many of you might not have been aware of. You can use any version of Microsoft Office legally on both your home computer and a portable computer system like laptop. As long as both the systems belong to you and you’re the person who has bought the copy of Microsoft Office. That’s a very handy tidbit of information. The reply to a tweeted question also stated that the Home and Student edition of Microsoft Office is licensed for installation on up to three machines.

Specifically, the license terms state (Extract from the MSLT):

You can easily get the theory behind this not well-publicized license term. Today, many computer-users have both a desktop and a laptop or a notebook (or any other portable device), so if Microsoft charges these users for both machines, then it will be unjustified. After all, if you’re using your computers for commercial purposes you’re obviously not supposed to be using Microsoft Office Home and Student versions. Thanks to section c, however, you can set up your portable install on a laptop or any other portable device and still be fully compliant and legal — thus saving your hard-earned money.

This license term applies to all Microsoft Office retail products, including the Academic editions.

Neowin also updated their post saying, “other productivity suites may have similar license terms (ie. Adobe products), so be sure to always check your license terms before shelling out for extra copies.”

Scott Guthrie, corporate vice president of Microsoft’s .NET Developer Platform during the announcement about the posters said:

This service pack is also offered via Windows Update and in standard ISO image format, which is around 1.2 GB in size and required to be burned to a DVD first to use it.

Note: Users will be reminded beginning March 30, 2011 about the expiration of SP1 beta. The beta will expire on June 30, 2011. After the expiration, users will have to then either upgrade to a newer build or uninstall and return to the RTM build by that time. Please read the FAQ over at Microsoft which answers common questions related to SP1.

Executing the download enables the system to receive the Service Pack 1 Beta via Windows Update. It can take a while before the update shows in Windows Update. Windows 7 users who chooses to install SP1 beta via Windows Update will notice that the download size is between 45 MB to 600 MB, which is very less when compared to the standard ISO image size.

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 beta does not add new features to the operating system. It will consist of updates that are already available through Microsoft Windows Update and some more hotfixes based on the feedback provided by the customers and partners. Hence, we will recommend users not to install the SP1 beta and wait until the final service pack 1 is released before upgrading.

Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 beta, however, consists of two new features:

Dynamic memory: An enhancement to Hyper-V in R2. It allows IT administrators to pool all the memory available on a physical host and dynamically distribute it to virtual machines running on that host as necessary. That means based on changes in workload, VM will be able to receive new memory allocations without a service interruption.

RemoteFX: RemoteFX describes a set of rich media capabilities that are available to customers using the Remote Desktop Services platform to deploy a virtual machine- or session-based remote desktop infrastructure. Specifically, RemoteFX enhances the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) in Remote Desktop Services, so that remote workers can access any type of application or screen content, including rich media and 3D applications, improving end-user productivity.

Now, coming back to today’s topic on How to Change Product Key of Microsoft Office 2010 & Visio 2010, just follow the simple steps below:

• Click on the button to open the Start Menu. Now, click on the Control Panel and then click on Programs (Uninstall a program), and finally click on Program and Features.
  (Windows XP users: Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.)

• From the list of installed programs, find Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 (or your installed version of Office 2010) or Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2010 (or your installed version of Visio 2010), which ever’s key you want to change, select it and then click on Change.



• From the newly opened dialog box, select the Enter a Product Key option, and then click Continue.

• Type your new product key and also check the option Attempt to automatically activate my product online to automatically activate your Office 2010 suite. Now click on Continue and then on Install Now.
  Note: Your computer must be connected to the Internet if you want to activate Office 2010 online.

  You can also activate Office 2010 later by running any Office 2010 app, and then clicking on the File tab > Help.

Microsoft now requires all installed copy of Office 2010 to be activated, including licenses sold through volume licensing. So, the rearm function in Office 2010 is actually provided for the convenience of corporate customers. Microsoft allows in total 5 rearm of Office 2010, where after reset, added 30 days of free usage is allowed without activation. If the rearm is timed correctly at the last day of current 30 day cycle’s end, theoretically, the 5 rearm can extend the free usage of Office 2010 up to 6 months or 180 days.

To rearm Office 2010 and get another 30 days of free usage, simply, run the OSPPREARM.EXE command file at the following folder:

%Program Files%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform\

You can open a command prompt window (Windows 7 or Vista users should open an elevated command prompt window), and type the following command:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform\OSPPREARM.EXE

If you are using 64-bit Windows OS and have installed 32-bit Office 2010, then you will need to run the following command in command prompt:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform\OSPPREARM.EXE

Another easy and simple method to rearm Office 2010 and extend its trial period involves downloading a small program and clicking on a single button. Installation and Usage

Installation of GFI Backup Business Edition is quick and easy by following the simple install wizard. During installation you are required to configure the connection settings, i.e., configure the IP address, HTTP and HTTPS ports that will host the GFI Backup administration (web) console.

Configure the administrator account credentials, and, after a couple of clicks more on the Next button, the installation will complete.

After completing the installation, when you click on the Finish button, the installer launches the GFI Backup administration (web) console on your default web browser.

Now, in the console, simply configure the Administrator Console log in details. Select the data access method according to your requirements. Click on Finish.

GFI Backup Business Edition is mainly composed of two interdependent components:

• GFI Backup Administration Console: The GFI Backup Administration Console is installed at a central location with network access to all the computers that require a backup solution.
• GFI Backup Agents: The GFI Backup Agents are the components that manage backup and restore operations on client machines, including the computer where GFI Backup Administration Console is installed.

GFI Backup provides a complete system that enables the management of all backup agents installed on networked computers. The main interface is nicely laid out so you can easily select the backup or other task you want to create or configure.

Once GFI Backup Administration Console is installed and agents are deployed on all the computers from where to take backups, configuring new backup tasks is the next logical step in using GFI Backup. GFI Backup Business Edition provides the option to backup files and folders, and, also to backup SQL servers. The facility to back up and restore Microsoft SQL Server databases is a very important function for any organization. This function provides you with the facility to backup databases as they are at specific points in time and will allow the restore of data to that specific instant.

Creating your first backup is simple following the steps in the New Backup Wizard. The backup destination can be an local/external hard drive, removable media, CD / DVD / Blu-ray disk, network locations, LAN folder, and even an FTP server. Backups can be ZIP compressed to save space and you can also add ZIP password protection or AES encryption to the backups for security. You can also select the Backup type as Replace Backup type or Stack Backup (with versioning) according to your requirements. Backup tasks can also be easily scheduled based on your preferences. Using the Pre & Post Actions tab, you can further configure the notifications and actions that will be performed before or after the backup. While the back up is running you can monitor the progress. You can back up files even if they are still open using the Windows Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS). Restoring files is also very easy with GFI Backup.

After completion of the backup task, a report is generated so you can monitor the results.

If you have any problems or want additional information about backups, everything is stored in log files.

System administrators can access different controls and perform backup and sync tasks easily from the System Tray Agent.

GFI Backup Business Edition also provides a vast number of settings for the system administrator to play with.

GFI Backup enables users of computers on which the agent is installed to set up their own synchronization tasks that enable the automatic replication of data stored on a workstation to an additional local or remote network location. The command line tool enables you to create new, import, execute, and remove tasks on the computers where GFI Backup Agents are installed. It also enables you to decrypt encrypted backup files so that their contents can be retrieved.

Now, coming to the GFI Backup Agent, it is basically the user-side component of GFI Backup for SMB.

Apart from providing backup, restore and monitoring functions that are administered by the systems administrator, it enables the end users to set up their own backup, restore and sync tasks across their desktop workstations, laptops, servers, and external drives.

By using Microsoft Visio 2010 Viewer, Visio users can freely distribute Visio drawings and diagrams to team members, partners, customers, or others, even if the recipients do not have Visio installed on their computers. Microsoft Visio 2010 Viewer can be used for viewing Visio drawing (files with a .vsd, .vss, .vst, .vdx, .vsx, or .vtx extension). Also, you can see properties on any shape by opening the Properties and Settings dialog box and then selecting a shape. Some rendering and display settings are available in the Display Settings tab of the Properties and Settings dialog box. Additionally, you can set drawing-layer visibility and colors in the Layer Settings tab, and annotation visibility and colors in the Markup Settings tab.

• Pan and zoom in the drawing window by using toolbar buttons, keyboard shortcuts or menu items in the shortcut menu.
• Able to see the properties of any shape by opening the Properties and Settings dialog box, and then selecting a shape.
• Some rendering and display settings are available in the Display Settings tab of the Properties and Settings dialog box.
• Able to set drawing-layer visibility and colors in the Layer Settings tab, and annotation visibility and colors in the Markup Settings tab.
• Supports Visio binary (.vsd) and XML (.vdx) files.

How To Install Visio Viewer 2010?

1. Download the file VisioViewer.exe and save it on your hard disk.
2. After download completes, double-click on the VisioViewer.exe program file on your hard disk to start the setup program.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

There are lots of changes and improvements over Open Office 3.1.1. After you have installed Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 Beta, please follow these steps to activate it:

Step 1: Open Microsoft Word 2010 Beta and click on the “File” tab. This will take you to the Backstage view. Next click “Help” in the set of tabs on the left.
Step 2: Click “Change Product Key” on the right side of the screen.
