Facebook Messenger for Windows Officially Released

Facebook has released its first Windows desktop app, Messenger for Windows.

Facebook Messenger for Windows allows Facebook users to see and respond to their activity, including chat messages. The application will allow users to keep up with their friends and Facebook activity directly from the desktop.

Facebook Messenger app is already available for iOS, Android and Blackberry platforms, and allows users to quickly chat with friends, share their location or photos and more. The desktop version, unfortunately, does not feature video chat and is limited to Windows 7. Facebook has hinted that other operating systems will be supported soon.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 Technical Preview for Windows 8 Consumer Preview Released

Kaspersky has made available a technical preview version of their flagship security suite Kaspersky Internet Security for Windows 8 Consumer Preview platform.

If you look at the build number of the technical preview, you will find it as 13.0.0.2292. The present build of KIS is 12.0.0.374(h) and titled as Kaspersky Internet Security 2012. So, technically this technical preview build will be titled as Kaspersky Internet Security 2013.

Few days back when Avast 7 was released, it became the first security suite to support the Windows 8 platform. Regular users who just want to protect their Windows 8 systems but don’t want to install a beta security product should install Avast 7 instead of KIS Technical Preview build. Windows 8 Consumer Preview Product Key, How To Get It?

Windows 8 Consumer Preview is now publicly available for everyone interested to test the upcoming operating system. This time Microsoft has made it dead simple for everyone who wants to download the operating system. But, it seems this simplicity has caused some confusion among some users when locating the product key for Windows 8 Consumer Preview.

The earlier version of Windows 8, Windows Developer Preview build allowed installation of the OS without requiring any product key. But, the Redmond giant has changed the installation procedure with the new Consumer Preview. Without putting in a valid product key, the installation process completely halts.

Windows 8 Consumer Preview Download (Windows 8 Beta)

Microsoft has released Windows 8 Consumer Preview (dubbed Windows 8 Beta) during an event in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress event. At the launch event the Redmond giant demonstrated how the Windows 8 has changed since the developer preview was officially released to the public at the Build conference last September.

One of the main cause of concern of many Windows users since the release of the Developer Preview back in September was about the new Metro UI. Everybody wanted to know if they would be able to use the classic desktop interface as their default user interface when they are using a computer or a laptop. Well, through the latest Consumer Preview build Microsoft seems to have addressed many of these issues. However, I will not personally comment about it before testing it myself. Dropbox Android App Updated, Dropbox Website Redesigned: It’s Minimal Yet Useful

Dropbox has updated their Android app with new automated photo upload feature, iOS users will soon receive the update.

Dropbox Android App is now available in the Android Market. It enables users to automatically upload their photos to the cloud while also giving them 500MB free extra cloud space, up to 3GB in total.

Automated photo uploads are coming to the desktop as well. But the desktop apps are not yet ready for prime time. When they are ready, you’ll be able to directly upload photos to the cloud from the camera connected to your computer.
