The Ubuntu Linux distribution has received a major update today. Ubuntu 9.10, code named Karmic Koala, has been officially released. This version introduces Canonical's new Ubuntu One synchronization service, including support for synchronizing contacts from the Evolution mail application and notes from Tomboy and a number of other improvements. Users can activate the Ubuntu One service by launching it from the Applications menu in the GNOME panel. VLC Media Player 1.0.0 Goldeneye Released
The VideoLan project today announced the release of VLC Media Player version 1.0.0 (Goldeneye). This major release introduces many new features, formats and codecs to VLC Media Player and fixes a high number of bugs that were present in previous versions of the media player.

Mozilla Firefox 3.5 Released
Mozilla has released the final version of its web browser Firefox 3.5 for download. If you were using Mozilla Firefox version 3.0.11 then you can update to the latest version using the following method:
- Open Firefox 3.0.11
- Click on Help and then select Check for updates.
- Firefox will tell an update is available and may also give you warning with the list of plugins that may stop working after you download this latest version.
- Click on the update button to update to version 3.5
- After completing download restart Firefox to apply the update.
Simple and easy way to update to the latest version.
