After Microsoft released Internet Explorer 9 and found it well accepted among Windows users, the software giant has released the platform preview of the next version. Undoubtedly, Microsoft on 12th April, 2011 has released Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 1 available for download.

Firefox 4: First 48 Hours, A Tale [Two Infographics]

Mozilla on March 22 released the Firefox 4 final. After the release, the web browser was downloaded 7.1 million times in its first day and in the first 48 hours of release, Mozilla racked up more than 15.85 million downloads. Mozilla blog has put together an infographic detailing the first 48 hours of activity. Downloads peaked at 10,200 per minute and averaged 91.7 downloads per second.

Mozilla Firefox 4 Released [Downloads]

Mozilla has finally released Firefox 4 build after 12 beta releases and two Release Candidates. According to Mozilla, Firefox 4 is “faster, easier and more awesome than ever“. Firefox adapted its looks to the minimalist UI trend ushered in by Google Chrome. It eliminates some elements from the default configuration such as the menu, bookmark and status bars while others have been included into multifunctional buttons.

Firefox has a single button in the top left part of the screen that encompasses all options you need, which somewhat has resemblance to the Opera’s button. Tab management has been greatly improved in this release through app tabs and the Panorama feature. App tabs act just like shortcuts to your favorite or frequently used sites, pinning them right next to the Firefox button and reducing their size to the website’s favicon. [Read more...]

Internet Explorer 9 to be delivered as Important Windows Update

Microsoft is planning to push Internet Explorer 9 as an Important Windows Update to existing beta and RC users on March 21. The update will also be offered as Important to normal Windows users. Microsoft revealed that Internet Explorer 9 RTW has been downloaded 2.35 million times in the first 24 hours of availability. Internet Explorer 9 was released to the web on Monday March 14 and has clocked up 27 downloads per second, over 250 downloads every 10 seconds. Microsoft revealed earlier this month that users have downloaded 36 million copies of Internet Explorer 9 since its beta release in September.

It was already confirmed earlier by Microsoft’s head of Internet Explorer, Dean Hachamovitch, that Microsoft will upgrade RC users to the final build. “We will automatically update IE9 beta users to the IE9 RC. Firefox 4 RC2 Released [Download]

Mozilla has released the Release Candidate 2 (RC2) of Firefox 4 web browser. Mozilla has a release date listed for Firefox 4 as March 22nd. The RC 2 build is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
