Microsoft’s new Windows Upgrade Offer allows all users who purchases a new (qualifying) Windows 7 PC in the coming months to receive a low-cost upgrade to Windows 8 Pro.
According to Microsoft, if a user buys a new PC that came pre-installed with either Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate, between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013 can upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $14.99 (the offer is available in 130 different countries in 23 currencies) during the promotion. The promotion expires on February 28, 2013. The upgrade comes with 90-days of free support from Microsoft, beginning from the day Windows 8 is installed and activated.
How to apply for Windows 8 Pro: Windows Upgrade Offer?
To apply for the low-cost upgrade, you must register at the special Windows Upgrade Offer website by February 28, 2013. When Windows 8 is made generally available to the public, you will receive an email from Microsoft with a promotion code. You will also receive instructions for purchasing Windows 8 Pro and downloading the operating system.
You can apply for only one upgrade per purchased PC (maximum up to 5 upgrade for 5 PCs for an individual). You can only pay by using any major credit card (VISA and MasterCard available in all 130 countries) or via PayPal (available for select countries).
This must have been clear by now that you will receive an ESD (Electronic Software Distribution) version of Windows 8 (Upgrade). You have to download Windows 8 and then make a bootable DVD or setup a USB Flash Drive to install Windows 8. Microsoft does offers you to send Windows 8 Pro (Upgrade) physical DVD media, but you will have to pay for an additional charge.
