Microsoft roadmap leaked for Office 15, IE10, Windows Phone and more

Microsoft roadmap for upcoming Office 15, Internet Explorer 10 (IE10) and Windows Phone, meant for its partners, have leaked to the Internet.

This year, we all are expecting upgrades to almost all products from the Redmond software giant. From the flagship operating system Windows, Internet Explorer to the most popular Office 15 productivity suite, the software giant is expected to release upgrades to all of them. Though the release dates are yet to be finalized but all these releases are expected by this year-end or in the first quarter of 2013.

ZDNet blogger Mary Jo Foley got her hands on the official roadmap of a number of key products. These screenshots were posted by one of Microsoft’s partner, Maarten Visser, CEO of a new SharePoint and mobility startup, Meetroo. Here’s what Maarten Visser posted on his twitter account.

He has posted screenshots of the roadmap on his Flickr account. You can view the leaked roadmap at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mvisser/6904336408, http://www.flickr.com/photos/mvisser/6904373666, http://www.flickr.com/photos/mvisser/7050469503.

The roadmaps were created in December 2011. This can only mean that whatever information it conveys may already be in public knowledge. If you look closely, you’ll find Microsoft didn’t even mention about Windows Consumer Preview, which was released to the public on February 29.

Further, you will notice Internet Explorer 10 is slated to be released in the middle of 2012. Internet Explorer 10 will be shipped with the Windows 8 operating system. So, it is normal to expect the browser to be released before the release of Windows 8 RTM.

Coming to the productivity suite, we couldn’t find any specify date for the release of Office 15 RTM. Beta release is expected in the second half of 2012.

Windows Phone timeline shows that Microsoft is slated to release a new version at the end of 2012. Though it’s not clear if it will be only an update to Windows Phone 7 or will be Windows Phone 8.
